Semlor in Singapore - Johan Paris Bakery

Johan Paris Bakery, is new to me. However, it is located at a familiar place Isetan Orchard Singapore. My old buddy friend Chris got for us these lovely pastries from Johan Paris when I invited his whole family of six to our new home in Singapore. We had a pancake party, is somewhat a little housewarming as I felt very honoured to host his entire family! It was pretty challenging as we have been planning this for almost more than a year since we moved back to Singapore during the COVID-19 Pandemic in February 2021.

This pastry looks completely like what is eaten in Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Norway, Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Iceland. Similar to semla, vastlakukkel, laskiaispulla or fastlagsbulle/fastelavnsbolle is a traditional sweet roll. Traditionally eaten only on the day before Lent, (the Christian fasting period), semlor are now eaten on a daily basis by enthusiasts nationwide from Christmas until Easter.
